Sorry to but in But. . . I have received quite a few death certs from the
court house. My wait time was minimal also. They did a really good job.
Especially for some one who lives out of state and can not get there to do
my own look ups.

I'm glad you cleared that up! I have driven around the very tiny
town of
Macy many times trying to figure out where some of my family lived in the
late
19th c., and wondered how I could have missed a library.
But the Peru library, now that's one I know about.
It has a great collection of compiled vital records, good indexing of
newspaper articles and obituaries, etc. The Historical society down the
street
also has some files as well as interesting exhibits for the county's
history.
Has anyone ever had any success getting to see death records at the
courthouse, by the way?
