Mildred Josephine Webster, 87

Mildred Josephine Webster, 87, Peru, passed away at 8:53 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at
Caring Hands Health Care Center, Peru.
She was born on September 2, 1917 in Jasper County to William P. and Olive Lenora (Austin)
Madary, and married Berton O. Webster on May 1, 1936. The couple's life-long friends,
Mr. and Mrs. James Stringer, were the attendees at the ceremony.
Webster graduated from Peru High School in 1935, and worked as a bookkeeper at the
original Montgomery Ward store. Displaying her business acumen, she later became part of
the executive secretary team of Lee Manufacturing Company. When Lee switched owners to
Einer Eck, Webster was asked to set up offices for Smiley Building Company of Highway 31.
She retired from that business when her son opened Webster's Florist. She also owned
and operated Jo's Catering and Cakes, which specialized in wedding cakes and
receptions. When the floral business moved to Peru and Rochester, she and Berton started
the Turquoise Nook in Peru.
A lady of impeccable taste, she and her husband traveled extensively each year, visiting
the Indian reservations in the West, and in Mexico, making jewelry selections for their
store.
Webster is survived by one son, Jerry O. Webster, and his business partner, David L.
Baird, Peru; a sister-in-law, Carol Madary Needham, Kokomo; a niece, Jean Albers and her
husband Daniel, Peru; and two nephews, John Keith and his wife Vicki, Kenosha, and William
P. Madary III, Indianapolis.
She was a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority and Dukes Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was a
former member of First Baptist Church, Peru.
Following the death of her husband in 1987, Webster moved to Anniston, Alabama, and just
recently returned to the Peru area, residing at Caring Hands.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the
Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru, with Pastor Kevin Palmer and Chaplain Steve Fleck
officiating.
Burial will be at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Earl Lester Moore, 83

Earl Lester Moore, 83, Macy, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005 at his
residence after several years of illness.
He was born April 29, 1922 in Akron to Frank R. and Nellie May Hartman Moore. He was a
lifelong resident of the Akron area. He married Lauretta Lee Landis May 9, 1945 in Fulton,
and she survives.
Moore worked for 20 years at Warner Brooder in North Manchester, and was a farmer.
Survivors besides his wife in Akron include three sons, Gary L. Moore and wife Sherri,
Smithfield, Va., Jerry E. Moore, Gilead, and Terry L. Moore and wife Julie, Akron; a
daughter-in-law, Carol S. Moore, Peru; a granddaughter, Amanda Kay Moore, Smithfield, Va.;
six grandsons, Adam Lee Moore, Smithfield, Va., Brandon Eugene and Kevin Alan, both of
Peru, Joshua Allen, Christopher Earl and Jordan Michael, all of Gilead; a sister, Pauline
Stanley, Koontz Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merel Moore, who passed away in 1939, and Alfred
Moore, who passed away in 1991; and three sisters, Marie Berger, who passed away at in
1991, Alice Steininger, who passed away in 1998, and Rose Marberger, who passed away in
2000.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, 811 E.
Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Lawrence See officiating. Burial will be in Akron
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donations can be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Mable Stanfield Govea, 87

Mable Stanfield Govea, 87, Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Peru, passed away Saturday,
June 4, 2005 in Apache Junction, Ariz. Survivors include her husband, Antony Govea,
Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Howard Stanfield and wife Peggy, Peru; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar R. and Ura M. Stanfield; a son, Howard
Rose; and a sister, Elenora Bennett. Funeral services are pending at Rees Funeral Home,
Portage.
