Mabel L. McKinney, 101

Mabel L. McKinney, 101, formerly of Peru, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2005
at Oakbrook Village, Huntington, after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 23, 1904 in Peru to John and Mary Mullett Hiers.
She was retired from the Log Cabin Restaurant, Peru, and was a member of First Assembly of
God Church, Peru.
She published three books in the National Library of Poetry and a few other poems on
poetry.com. She was crowned the senior queen of Peru and Huntington, was grand marshall of
the Peru parade, volunteered for the Green Thumbs and played in the YMCA Kitchen Band. In
addition, she was a flapperette, and on her 100th birthday she did a few steps of the
Charleston.
Survivors include a son-in-law, George Lease, Andrews; six grandchildren; 11 great
grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, six sisters, three daughters, two
sons, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and one great-great grandson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God, Peru, with
Pastor John Thomas officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Cemetery, Huntington County.
Arrangements are being handled by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.

Albert J. Otto, 80, Bunker Hill, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at Dukes
Memorial Hospital, Peru. He was born Oct. 11, 1924 in Arthur, Ill. to Jerry S. and
Elizabeth Mast Otto. He married Mattie Helmuth Otto on Aug. 29, 1944 in Arthur, Ill., and
she survives.
Otto was a retired Miami County farmer and a member of Bethany Fellowship Church.
Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Calvin Otto and wife Jean, Sarasota, Fla.,
and Linnford Otto and wife Marietta, North Adams, Mich.; four daughters, Mary Bontrager
and husband Dale, Fort Wayne, Barbara Lataillade and husband Patrick, Haiti, Arlene
Tschiegg and husband William, Bunker Hill, and Edith Miller and husband Sam, Huntington;
four brothers, Freeman Otto and wife Mary, Simon Otto and wife Edna, all of Kokomo, Fred
Otto and wife Martha, Humboldt, Ill., and Jerry Otto, Arcola, Ill.; a sister, Verna Chupp
and husband Melvin, Arcola, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Martha Otto, Humbolt, Ill.; 19
grandchildren, Douglas and Dawn Bontrager, Craig and Cristal Bontrager, Rachel Lataillade,
Agape Lataillade, Vicki and Marcus Freeland, Brian Miller, Lynette Miller, James and Kathy
Otto, Carrie Otto, Crystle Otto, Jonathon Otto, Adam Otto, J.J. Otto, Jodi Otto and
Matthew Otto; and eight great-grandchildren, Meckaila Bontrager, Moriah Bontrager, Josiah
Bontrager, Noah Bont!

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Otto; and three brothers, Henry, Edward
and Alvin Otto. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethany Fellowship School,
5169 N. 600 E. in Howard County, with Marvin Beachy, Darlton Bontrager and Ronald Graber
officiating. Burial will be in Christner Cemetery, Miami County.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the school.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Word Ministry where
Barbara and Patrick Lataillade are missionaries in Haiti.
Clarence Edward "Ed" Edgington, 74

Clarence Edward "Ed" Edgington, 74, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, passed away on
May 29, 2005 at his home. He was born November 21, 1930 in Marion to the late Leroy and
Mary Esta Edgington.
Edgington was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He
worked for Tropicana in Florida several years before retiring and moving to Juniata
County, Pennsylvania. He was active as an umpire for Little League Baseball and slow-pitch
softball, and was the caretaker for the Tuscarora ball field in Mifflin. He was a member
of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Bruce Edgington and wife Pat, Peru and Mark Edgington and wife
Laura, Sarasota, Florida; three sisters, Francis Bailey, Richmond, Helen Kemp,
Winterhaven, Florida and Mae Cardeno, Vallejo, California; his companion, Ronda Bierma;
four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ray, Homer, Bill, Charles and Leroy Jr.
Funeral services were conducted at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, N. Third St.,
Mifflintown.
Internment was in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarora Softball

Rebecca Diane Stein, 52, Kodak, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel. Burial
will be in Roann Community Cemetery. Calling will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home.
