Hi Meta,
Well, I made it into the Peru library but didn't find out much. I looked
up
the
obits for both John & Anna but they didn't tell much. The
one for John
states that
he was born in Nov 1838 in PA. He died Nov 9, 1919, age 80 yrs. 11
mo. &
17 da.
Anna's gives a little more but nothing about parents in either
one. It
says that
they emmigrated to IN in Dec of 1857 & were married in Jan of
1858. They
set up
housekeeping on the farm of Samuel Dawald (my husband's
gggrandfather).
Anna was b.
in Pottsville PA on 13 Sep 1837 & d. in Mar 1926 at age 88 yrs. 5
mo. & 9
da. The
obit appeared on 25 Mar 1926. She was a lifelong member of the
German
Lutheran
Church. John & Anna had 2 children, Mary E. Fry & Sarah
Catherine Ream,
but raised
5 other children, not named. I contacted a friend that is in the
family
also, but
we can't figure out who this John belongs to. Are you from this
branch of
Dawalts?
Do you know if he had a sawmill in Denver? I will keep trying ....
this
has me
curious to know where he fits in the family. Any little bit of
information that you
have might help me to place him.
Cheryl
