In the book "The Miami Indians of Indiana" by Stewart Rafert, he tells on
page 166
about Ben Wallace buying Gabriel Godfroys 220 acre farm for the winter
quarters of the circus. He paid $25,000. This large amount of money allow
Gabriel to pay for heavy legal bills todefend the Miami land from taxation.
I believe I have a pic of this. I am going to look right now.
