Jonathan Robert Cepican, 23, Gaston, passed away at 11:38 a.m. Sunday, March
13, 2005 at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie.
He was born on Dec. 21, 1981 in Scottsdale, Ariz. to Jerry M. and Janice
Scroggins Cepican.
Survivors include his mother in Vancouver, Wash.; his brother, Jerry
Cepican, Vancouver, Wash.; and his grandparents, Bob and Helen Scroggins,
Columbus, and Elsie Cepican, Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry M. Cepican.
A memorial service will be held in Vancouver at a later date. The
arrangements were handled by Myers Funeral Service-Reed and Jewell Chapel,
Columbus. Memorials may be made to Hickory Creek Development Center, c/o

Charles W. "Charlie" Meeks, 70

Charles W. "Charlie" Meeks, 70, Peru, passed away at 9:05 p.m. Friday, March
11, 2005 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
He was born on June 10, 1934 in Washington, Pa. to Theodore and Mary Vitteck
Meeks. He then married Sandra Perry on Sept. 15, 1961 and she survives.
Meeks retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years, and also retired from
Peru Community Schools. He was a member of Zion Chapel Church, the American
Legion and Peru Maennerchor. He enjoyed all sports, gardening, bowling,
fishing, playing cards, good food, but most of all spending time with
children, family and friends.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Michael Meeks and wife Lori,
Peru, and Jay Paul Meeks and wife Rita, Jacksonville, Fla.; three daughters,
Debora Scott and husband Sid, Orlando Fla., Jenny Cook, and Teresah Campos
and husband Paul, all of Peru; a brother, Ted Meeks, Florida; 10
grandchildren, Robert Oppito, Kayla and Brianna Meeks, Robert and Desire'
Cook, Derek Baker, Michael and Heather Meeks, and Chris and Tiffany Meeks;
and two sisters, Mildred Baloukas, Washington, Pa., and Helen Gamrat.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one sister, Shirley Meeks.
The funeral will be at Zion Chapel Church, 915 S. Broadway, Peru, on
Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rod Correll and Pastor George Dinkel
officiating. Burial will be at Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass
County. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Flowers-Leedy Funeral
Home. Memorials may be made to The Gideons. There also will be a military
committal service.

LaVerne E. Martin, 86, Peru, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2005
at Dukes Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending at
Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.
