Joseph Balsbaugh, 89, Macy, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005
at Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown.
He was born July 17, 1915 in Perrysburg to the Rev. Walter and Anna Miller
Balsbaugh. He graduated from Deedsville High School in 1932, and married
Arlene Mills on March 28, 1937.
Balsbaugh was a retired farmer and a member of the Mexico Church of the
Brethren, where he held various positions. He served on the South Central
Indiana governing board of the Church of the Brethren for several years, was
a trustee of Timbercrest Retirement Home, and a member of the holding
corporation of North Miami High School, the Miami County Sheriff's Merit
Board for 17 years and the Miami County Soil and Water Conservation
Directors, and helped organize Crop Walk for many years.
Survivors include five daughters, Delora Clapp and husband Lynn, Greentown,
Jo Ella Maugans and husband Conrad, Kokomo, Marquita Tilden and husband
Dennis, Macy, Janita Beall and husband David, Kokomo, and Crystal Jackson
and husband Gerry, Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, Julie Horne, Terry Clapp,
Lisa Driver, Stacy Maugans, Cary and Tim Middlekauff, Kristy Lynch, Jeff
Tilden, Doug and Evan Beall, and Rachelle Grismore; and nine
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Robins and Frances Wildman;
one brother, Ralph Balsbaugh; and his parents.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mexico Church of the
Brethren, 450 North, Miami County, followed by greeting of the family in the
church fellowship hall until 5 p.m. with the Rev. Todd Wenger and the Rev.
Don Ritchey officiating. Following his wishes, private burial will be in the
Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico. Memorial contributions can be made to Church
World Service, with envelopes available at the church. Stout & Son Funeral
Home, Russiaville, handled the arrangements.

George Miller Hentgen, 76

George Miller Hentgen, 76, passed away Monday, March 14, 2005 Shands of
Jacksonville, Fla. following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1928 in Peru to George and Georgianna Sharp Hentgen. He
moved to Macclenny, Fla. about nine years ago, and was Lutheran by faith.
Hentgen served his country in the U.S. Army in the infantry, and was a
paratrooper in the 101st Airborne.
He also was a member of the Teamster Union, Disabled American Veterans,
Commanders Club and Pineview Country Club, and was awarded the Purple Heart
and the Korean War Service Medal. He loved golf, gardening and putting
models together.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruby Hentgen, Macclenny, Fla.; three
daughters, Georgia Monfort and husband Jon, Macclenny, Fla., Shelia Crook
and husband Sam, Logansport, and Connie J. Green, Jacksonville, Fla.; a
brother, William Hentgen and wife Louise, Peru; a sister, Patricia Danner
and husband Herb, Anderson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Iris Stuber,
Lucille Roby and Louanna Coffman.
A memorial service with full military honors will be at 3 p.m. March 26 in
the chapel of Fraser Funeral Home, Macclenny, Fla., with the Rev. Wilford
McCormick officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association, American Lung Association and the American
Kidney Foundation in remembrance of Miller Hentgen.

Everett Manning Jr., 77, Denver, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Thursday, March
17, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Denver Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill. Calling will be from 2
to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.

Benjamin C. "Ben" Wilkison, 77

Benjamin C. "Ben" Wilkison, 77, Peru, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday,
March 16, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.
Wilkison was born on Jan. 20, 1928 in Walton to Benjamin F. Wilkison and
Minnie (Gibbs) Perkins. His step-mother was Helen M. Wilkison. He married
Wanda Glassburn on Nov. 12, 1946 and she survives.
He was a self-employed contractor and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II
and the Korean Conflict. He was also a retired Colonel for the Army
Reserves. He was a life member of the following lodges: Peru-Miami No. 67
Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite of Ft. Wayne and the Mizpah Shrine Club of Ft.
Wayne, American Legion and the American Legion 40 & 8, Moose Lodge, Veterans
of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Police, Bass Masters, I.O.O.F. and past
Grand Master of the State I.O.O.F., Phi Delta Kappa, Retired Veterans,
Quarter Horse Association, Wood Carvers Association at Converse and
consulate for West Point.
Wilkison was also one of the chaplains that participated in the local
military committal services.
Besides his wife, he he is survived by four children, Stanley C. Wilkison
and wife Connie, Denver; Hugh K. "Ken" Wilkison, Peru; Gary F. Wilkison and
wife Sharon, Mexico, and April M. Stephens and husband Roger, East Leroy,
Mich.; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, and a sister, Margaret
Wilkison.
There will be services on Friday at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru by
the American Legion 40 & 8, The I.O.O.F., beginning at 7 p.m., and a Masonic
service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Reverend James Lund
and Pastor Tony Winter officiating.
Burial will be at Rankin Cemetery.
Visitation may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral
Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nazarene Building fund.
Military Committal Service will be provided by the Indiana National Guard.
