I am posting this incase others are having the same problems and can use the
great tips I have received.
Well gang, I did finally find the birth certificate my husband sent for back
in 1978, filed under confusion at the back of the box. So he did receive a
birth certificate and I guess the letter I found was sent after he received
the certificate. Sorry for the misinformaton. I will now send for the
marriage application since Denise was so kind to shared this tip with me:
A tip would be to order the marriage application rather than the license
or record. The application gives you the number of previous marriages
and who the parents of both individuals are, which should allow you to
determine which is her maiden name. The applications are just one
dollar and I find them a great resource.

With the birth certificate having Clara A. VINCENT-MCGUIRE, John pointed out
that she MAY of married prior to William A. MCGUIRE. VINCENT may not be her
maiden name. So with Denise's idea of getting the application may help with
this mind twister.
Also the social security number on Clara's death certificate came up bust so
that didn't work.
Thanks so much to all who helped this is a great list.

I have never had any problem with getting death certificates. The
ones I
have are on new Death Certificates, she types in the information (if
available). And if there is any other pertinent information it is written
on
the back, ie the name of the parents, etc. The employess at the
Health
Department in the Court House (not City Hall) have been very helpful. I
guess its the luck of the draw.
