C. Robert "Bob" Elrod, 75, Wabash, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 22,
2005 at his residence.
He was born on February 8, 1930 in Indianapolis to Merritt T. and Roxie Anna (Hendrick)
Elrod, and married Jean Hollingworth in 1951, who passed away in 1952. Elrod later married
Helen Cleaver on October 17, 1954 in Pyrmont.
Elrod was a 1948 graduate of Franklin Central High School, and was a charter life
underwriter (CLU). He was the agency manager of Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Wabash
from 1965 until his retirement in 1992. Prior to moving to Wabash in January of 1965, he
was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent in Marion County for 10 years. Elrod was a member of
Bachelor Creek Church of Christ and past elder and deacon of the church. He was a member
of the Wabash Kiwanis Club, serving as secretary for 20 years, and also as a lieutenant
governor. Elrod was also a George F. Hixson Fellow. He was a member of the Gideons
International, and the Wabash Hanna Masonic Lodge, and served as a past president of the
Wabash County Farm Bureau Insurance, Inc. He also was a member of the American Cancer
Society Board of Directors, past president of the Salamonie Life Underwriters Association,
member of the Indiana State Association of Indiana Insurance and Financial Advisors, and
past state president and reci!

Hoosier Life Underwriters. Elrod was named Governor of Farm Bureau Insurance, which
honors the highest producing agency manager in the state of Indiana.
Elrod was a cook and mess Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and in
1952 participated in an atomic bomb test at Camp Desert in Rock, Colorado. He loved to
golf and was a charter member of Rod's Discount Golf Vacations.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Elrod, Wabash; a son, Mark R. Elrod and wife Margo,
Peru; two daughters, Robin D. Klare and Brenda K. Hegel and husband Rod, each of Wabash;
five granddaughters, Mia Elrod, Peru, and Erica Hegel, Whitney Klare, Christy Hegel, and
Hannah Klare, each of Wabash; two grandsons, Mason Elrod, Peru, and Brady Sorrell, Wabash;
two great-grandsons, Zyan and Xander; and a brother, Wilburn Elrod and wife Jeanette,
Terre Haute.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Bachelor Creek Church of
Christ, Wabash, with John Leinbaugh officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Lawns Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service,
1241 Manchester Ave., as well as one hour prior to services at the church.

Arthur D. "Duffy" Landgrave, 82

Arthur D. "Duffy" Landgrave, 82, Peru, passed away at 6:25 p.m. on Friday, May
20, 2005 at Dukes Memorial Hospital.
The lifelong Peru resident was born on October 24, 1922 to Daniel and Beulah (Kester)
Landgrave in Peru, and was a retired supervisor from Square D Company, where he worked for
45 years.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, and served on the U.S.S. Lark Ship in
the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Landgrave is survived by one daughter, Lisa K. Penrod and husband Michael, Peru; two
grandchildren, Alisha and Tabitha Phillips; two brothers, Harold Landgrave, Kokomo, and
Cecil Landgrave, Fort Wayne; and one sister, Harriet Moore, Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Roy Landgrave and Clarence
Landgrave.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the First Assembly of God
Church, Peru, with the Reverend John Thomas officiating.
No visitation is scheduled. Arrangements are being handled by Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home,
Peru.
