Family History: The Real Amazing Race!

What:
The Indianapolis Family History Fair is free and open to the public and
sponsored by the Family History Centers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints.
The keynote speaker this year will be James W. Petty, AG® , CGRSSM , BS
(Genealogy), BA (History) of Salt Lake City who is co-founder of Heritage Genealogy
College and a long-time researcher. He has recently been awarded the prestigious 2005
Donald Mosher Award for Virginia research as announced by The BCG Education Fund, a
Massachusetts charitable trust.
There will be a Friday evening Fireside on August 26th at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Petty
will speak on Genealogy in the 21st Century. Then on Saturday, the 27th, there will be
an opening session followed by five workshop sessions. In the opening session, Mr. Petty
will present: Planning Research Strategies to all attendees.
There will also be an optional syllabus of the workshops available for those
who pre-register. The charge will be for the copying costs only and is expected to be
about $5.
Where:
The Fair will be held at the LDS Church, located at 777 Sunblest Blvd, Fishers,
located one-half mile east of Allisonville Rd., north of 116th St.
When:
The 2005 Indianapolis Family History Fair will be held on Friday, August 26th
(7:00 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday, August 27th (9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m.).
Registration:
Advance registration is preferred for planning purposes. This does not obligate
attendance at the specific workshops indicated on the registration form on the day of the
conference. Due to some limited spaces, however, it will reserve a place on a first come,
first served basis as each specific workshop is filled. Also, if indicated, a syllabus
of the workshops will be reserved, at cost ($5), at the Fair. You may also register on
the day of the Fair beginning at 8:00 a.m. For those who can only attend in the afternoon
(1:00 4:00 p.m.), registration for the afternoon sessions will be from 12:00 1:00
p.m.
Parking:
There is limited parking at the Church, so carpooling is encouraged. Handicap
parking will be available on the east side of the Church.
Special Instructions:
Attendees are invited to share ideas by displaying items that involve all
aspects of Family History, related, but not limited to: Family Reunions, Organizing
Research Files, Photo & Archive preservation (Scrap booking, etc.), and
Published/Compiled Family Histories. To preserve our non-profit status, no commercial
presentations or vendors are allowed, however, other non-profit genealogical societies,
groups, libraries, record repositories and so forth are invited to share & display
