Arthur I. Gothard, 94, Lafayette, passed away Friday, July 8, 2005 at Home Hospital,
Lafayette.
He was born Oct. 13, 1910 in Ragland, Ala. to William and Mautie Edge Gothard. His first
marriage was to Isabel Babcock on May 5, 1934. She passed away on Dec. 31, 1983. He then
married Harriett Haines on Nov. 10, 1984, and she survives.
Gothard had worked as a salesman for Korschot Heating and Air and had also been employed
by Vierk Supply. He was a member of Crestview United Brethren Church, West Lafayette Lodge
492 F&AM, BPOE 143, Elks Lodge 143 and the High 12 Club 698.
Survivors other than his wife include one son, James Gothard and wife Suzie, Lafayette;
three stepdaughters, Patricia Baker and husband Harold, Mishawaka, Jane Ober and husband
Andy, Kokomo, and Beverly Ann Hamilton and husband Chase, San Francisco, Calif.; one
brother, Barney Gothard, Peru; one sister, Jennie Lou Newby, Peru; 13 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Jean Mannies; one brother, Alton Gothard;
two sisters, Elsie Hight and Pearl Langdon; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette.
Burial will take place at Spring Vale Cemetery.

Eugene S. "Gene" Csabi, 72, Peru, passed away at 2:07 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005
at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Peru, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born April 27, 1932 in South Bend to Stephan and Alice Kmitta Csabi. He graduated
from Washington High School in South Bend, and married Vicki Jo Miller Csabi April 30,
1965 in Peru. She preceded him in death July 10, 2001.
Csabi was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from AT & T. He also was a member of St.
John's Lutheran Church, Peru, Peru Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge, the American Legion,
a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a former associate member of the
Indiana Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his daughter, Elena Victoria Csabi, Peru; a sister, Alice M. Mead,
Mishawaka; a sister-in-law, Carol Ranalli and husband David, Lafayette; and a
brother-in-law, James R. Miller and wife Kathy, Logansport.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery,
South Bend. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home,
Peru. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer
Society.
