Michael Reed, 48, Worthington, Ky., passed away Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the home of
Donny and Tammy Vallance surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness.
He was born May 28, 1957 in Wabash to the late John E. and Joann Davisson Reed.
Reed was a brakeman for CSX, a member of the American Legion Post 325 in Flatwoods, Ky.,
and attended Russell Christian Church.
Survivors include a sister, Ann E. Banton and husband Phillip, Fishers; a step-mother,
Libby Walker Reed, Kenova, W.Va.; a step-brother, Terry Walker; two nephews, Matthew and
Scott Banton; a niece, Katherine Banton; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be performed at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods,
Ky., by the Rev. Mark McKinney. Interment will be at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens,
Flatwoods, Ky. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Marie Hayes, 85

Marie Hayes, 85, Flora, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005 at St. Elizabeth
HealthCare, Delphi. She was a lifetime resident of Flora.
She was born Jan. 18, 1920 in Monroe Township, Carroll County, to Roy and Edna Meador
Eller. She graduated from Flora High School in 1938, and married Elmer H. Hayes Oct. 9,
1940 in Flora. He preceded her in death Nov. 3, 1999.
Hayes was a homemaker, attended Grace Brethren Church in Flora and enjoyed camping.
Survivors include four sons, Joe G. Hayes and wife Susan, Logansport, John H. Hayes and
wife Ruby, Bringhurst, Jeff M. Hayes and wife Sandra, and Jack L. Hayes and wife Mary, all
of Flora; six grandsons; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters and five
great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, her parents and two brothers, Harold and
Basil Eller.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home, Flora, with Pastor
David Rosner officiating. Burial will be in Musselman Cemetery, Camden. Calling will be
from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
American Heart Association.
Lily May Stark, 77

Lily May Stark, 77, Peru, formerly of Logansport, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Sunday, July
24, 2005 in St. Vincent's Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Riverview Wesleyan Church,
Logansport, with the Rev. Jack Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Ever Rest
Memorial Park. Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent's Pet Therapy Program. This program
provided great comfort for Stark in her final days.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport.
Dorthy Ellen Reffitt, 89

Dorthy Ellen Reffitt, 89, Rochester, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005 at
Life Care Center, Rochester.
She was born March 22, 1916 in Alphoretta, Ky. to Tommy and Mary Tussey Stephens. She
married Clyde Reffitt June 22, 1935 in Risner, Ky., and he preceded her in death Feb. 22,
1985.
Reffitt was a member of the Baptist Church. She retired from Dukes Memorial Hospital,
Peru, to resume as a housekeeper.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Bradley, Denver; four sons, Harold and Clifford
Reffitt, both of Rochester, J.T. Reffitt, Portage, and Larry Dean Reffitt, Macy; 10
grandsons, Marcus James, Harold Wade, Carl Edward, Billy Joe, Donald James, Brandon and
Clayton Reffitt, Douglas Lee, Mike and Glenn Bradley; seven granddaughters, Lisa Ann
Simpson, Connie Ellen Tyler, Lugina Benner, Shannon K. White, Jaclyn Shoppa, Deanna Lynn
Reffitt and Glenda Mills; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a
sister, Alvie Ousley, Prestonburg, Ky.; and two brothers, Rubin and Edgar Stephens, both
of Prestonburg, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Clyde Hershel Reffitt; three
grandchildren, Jamie Theresa, Stephanie Jo and Cody S. Reffitt; a sister, Alice Prater;
and four brothers, Rufus, Sam, Darb and Curt Stephens.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with the
Rev. Gene Ousley officiating. Burial will be in Fulton Cemetery, Fulton. Visitation will
be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
