David "Dave" Gene Alspaugh, 55

David "Dave" Gene Alspaugh, 55, Galena, Ill, passed away at 10:07 a.m. Friday,
July 22, 2005 at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
He was born March 11, 1950 in Peru to Donald and Norma Wolf Alspaugh. He married Patricia
"Pat" Routt Alspaugh of Macy June 14, 1970 in Peru, and she survives.
Alspaugh graduated from Maconaquah High School and Tulane University, New Orleans, La.,
where he received a B.S. in engineering. He worked at Bodine Electric Company, Chicago,
Ill., for the past 11 years where he was vice president of manufacturing. He attended
Elizabeth Methodist Church, Elizabeth, Ill., and was a member of the Society of Electrical
Engineers, the Tulane Greenwave Club, APICS American Production and Inventory Control
Society and National Fishing Lure Collectors Club. In addition, he enjoyed golfing,
fishing and collecting fishing lures and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors besides his parents in Peru and wife include a son, Jason Phillip Alspaugh and
wife Julie, Odessa, Mo.; a daughter, Shannon Leigh Alspaugh and fiance Aaron Spaid,
Bloomington, Ill.; a granddaughter, Lillian Skyler Alspaugh; a grandson, Breven Joseph
Harden; a brother Mark A. Alspaugh and wife Karen, Littleton, Colo.; and a sister, Kay E.
Ridenour and husband Jim, Mishawaka.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home, Bunker Hill. Burial
will be in Springdale Cemetery, Bunker Hill. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Nancy Carol (Yager) Ames, 67

Nancy Carol (Yager) Ames, 67, Eugene, Oregon, formerly of Peru, passed away July 13,
2005.
She was born January 14, 1938 in Tipton to Margaret Pieczschala. She married Deverl Ames
in 1956.
Ames attended high school in LaPorte and is a former resident of Ohio and Colorado. She
was a homemaker and mother of two, who enjoyed cooking and counseling youth and had a
wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include one daughter, Wendy Ames, Cincinnati; one son, Wayde Ames and wife Beth,
Peru; two brothers and two sisters of Indiana and Florida and two grandchildren, Toraja
Ames, Cincinnati and Justin Ames, Peru.
Funeral services were held Monday.
Arrangements were by Musgrove Family Mortuary, Eugene.
James V. Wright, 48

James V. Wright, 48, Peru, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at
Mississinewa Lake in Wabash County.
He was born July 4, 1957 in Prestonburg, Ky. to Hodley and Nellie Birchfield Wright.
Wright was self-employed.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy Wright and Tabatha Tharp, both of Peru; five sons,
James Wright, Peru, Hodley Ben Wright, J.J. Wright, Steven Wright and Charles Wright, all
of Georgia; a brother, David Wall, Peru; four grandchildren, Chloa, Noah, Jamie and Emma
Wright; four sisters, Barbara Hicks and husband Melvis, Logansport, Bonnie Davidson,
Wabash, and Lynn Babb and Kathy Wright, both of Peru; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. The eight honorary
pallbearers will be Butch and Steven Hicks, David "Bub" Wright, Billy Davis,
Matt Turley, Steve Campbell, Kenny Arwood and Stevie Beacraft.
Rosanna R. Garrett, 83

Rosanna R. Garrett, 83, Peru, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at her
residence.
She was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Peru to John and Minnie Garske Durkes. She married David E.
Garrett on Jan. 14, 1945 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Peru. He preceded her in death
on Nov. 23, 1999.
Garrett was a graduate of Peru High School and the executive secretary to the principal at
Peru High School for 45 years until she retired in 1982. She was a member of St.
John's Lutheran Church and was affiliated with the YMCA, Lutheran Missionary League,
Rachel Circle of St. John's Church, Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Ladies of the Moose and
Ladies of the Elks. She was an avid swimmer at the YMCA and a bridge enthusiast who
enjoyed playing with her friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl McKee and husband Kirk, Tulsa, Okla.; one son, John
Garrett and wife Kay, Rochester; two grandchildren, David Secrest and wife Jenne, and
James K. Secrest III and wife Tara; and three great-grandchildren, Jake, Josh and Kylie
Secrest.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Robert Durkes.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 30 at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru,
with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's
Lutheran Cemetery, Peru.
No visitation is scheduled.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church or the Southern
Care Hospice.
