Robert J. Mathes, 76, formerly of Peru, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at Lakeview
Hospital, Mandeville, Louisiana.
Mathes served in the United States Army Signal Corps, and following his military service
worked as a reporter/photographer for the Peru Daily Tribune.
He was instrumental in the founding of the Circus City Festival in Peru.
Funeral services will be at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula, Louisiana,
today at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home at 1 p.m.

Blythe Y. Harshman, 91, Keystone, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2005.
Her son Robert Harshman survives in Peru.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at Sonlight Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Robert
Picket and Rev. Tom Bradley officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the
church.

Dora M. Quinn, 69

Dora M. Quinn, 69, Walton, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005 at the
residence of her daughter, Ruth Kelley, Ligonier.
She was born on January 25, 1936 in Willow Creek to George Russell and Helen Ruth (Bouvie)
Hess, and married Albert F. Quinn on October 16, 1954 in Smithville, West Virginia. He
preceded his wife in death on March 22, 2005.
Quinn was a homemaker and served as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps.
She was a member of the Onward Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Walton, Gay
Niters Home Economics Club, Moose Lodge Auxiliary, Logansport, American Legion, Walton,
and was especially loved by her children and grandchildren.
Quinn is survived by two sons, George Quinn and wife Jennifer, Walton, and Bill Quinn,
Hendersonville, Tennessee; three daughters, Helen Hernandez and husband Alejandro, Young
America, Ruth Kelley and husband Ryan, Ligonier, and Linda Shay and husband Bob, Silver
Lake; grandchildren, Megan Quinn and husband Joe Watson, Galveston; Timothy Quinn and
Tiffany Quinn, Taylor Michigan; Danielle Koors and Caleb Koors, Young America; Damon
Kelley and Kara Kelley, Ligonier; Adam Shay, Silver Lake; Dalton Quinn and Lindsay Quinn,
Hendersonville; and great-granddaughter, Grace Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Edwin Hess; and granddaughter,
Casey Quinn.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Onward Christian Church,
with the Reverend Rod Mason officiating.
Burial will be at Deer Creek Cemetery, Onward.
Visitation will be today at the Murray-Weaver Funeral Home chapel, Walton, from 2 to 4
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Eastern Star services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.

Brian D. Bosley, 40, Peru, passed away at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at his
residence.
He was born on March 26, 1965 in Wyoming, Michigan to Dwayne R. and Judy (Jordan) Bosley,
and married Sharon Fumis Bosley in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan on March 25, 2000.
Bosley was a 1983 graduate of Pickford (Michigan) High School, and worked as a carpenter.
He was a United States Army veteran.
Bosley is survived by his wife; children, Melanie Jean Bosley, Sault Ste. Marie, Paige
Anne Bosley, Sault Ste. Marie, and Ann-Marie Peer, Sault Ste. Marie; grandmother, Margaret
Jordan, Sault Ste. Marie; step-children, Morgan Peterson, Peru, Carolyn Bishop, Peru, and
Michael Bishop, Peru; mother and step-father, Judy and Frank Causley, Sault Ste. Marie;
sisters, Anita Graves and husband Wayne, Burnips, Michigan, Sheri Lemstra and husband
Barry, Peru, and Marge Bosley, Alabama; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Julie
Day, Peru; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jaune Day and wife Karen, Peru; nephews,
Christopher, Tyler and Jeremy; and nieces, Amanda, Becky and Jalyn.
He was preceded in death by his father; and three grandparents.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home,
Peru.
Burial will be at North Raber Cemetery, Raber, Michigan.

Roy H. Pier, 87

We as a family are celebrating the life of Roy H. Pier, 87, as he ascended to glory. He
graduated to glory at 6:20 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005 at his home (1542 W. 400 South,
Peru), which was less than a mile from his birthplace.
Pier was born in Miami County on December 29, 1917 to Clarence and Grace (Engel) Pier, and
resided in this county his entire life.
The 1936 graduate of Bunker Hill High School married Patricia Ann Erwin on November 2,
1952. Pier's memberships included Miami Fellowship of Praise Church, the Moose Lodge,
Peru, and Plumber/Steamfitters Local 440 Union.
Pier was retired from Quality Plumbing and Heating.
He served in the United States Army during World War II, and his hobbies included fishing,
golfing, gardening, shuffle board, card games, a challenge, and spending his deep love
with his family and friends.
Pier is survived by his wife; two daughters, Patti Lynn Grube and husband Paul, Rochester,
and Connie Rockwell, Indianapolis; four sons, Allen Pier and wife Jeannie, Peru, Dale Pier
and wife Dara, Bunker Hill, Mark Pier and wife Carol, Peru, and Randy Pier and wife
Teresa, Peru; two brothers, Donald Pier, Peru, and Robert Pier and wife Marlene, Peru;
grandchildren, Jeff Grube, Gary Grube, Shawn Grube, Melissa Pier, Jimmy Pier, Sean Morr,
Brad Pier, Stacy Nichols, Candace Rockwell, Rachel Sutton, and Grace Pier;
great-grandchildren, Brad Grube, Ashlin Grube, Sophie Grube, and Lincoln Sutton; several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Henry Pier, Ellis Pier, Joe Pier,
and Wilbur Pier; and six sisters, Irene Graft, Sylvia Jones, Gladys White, Dorothy Wolf,
Wanita Pier, and Mary Lucille Pier.
Funeral services will be conducted at Allen Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, on Tuesday at 10
a.m. with Brother Steve Bluse and brother Mark Chase officiating.
Burial will be at Salem Cemetery, Miami County.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
