Archie V. Sawyer Jr., 83, Russiaville, went to be with his Lord and Saviour at 9:10 a.m.
Monday, June 27, 2005 at Windsor Estates Health Center, Kokomo.
He was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Peru to Catherine Brewer and Archie V. Sawyer Sr. He married
Muriel E. "Betty" Gidley July 11, 1942, and she preceded him in death May 19,
1994.
Sawyer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He also was a retired plumber, a member of
the Moose and Eagles Lodge in Peru, the Elks Lodge in Indio, Calif., and the VFW. In
addition, his hobbies included stock car racing, fishing and camping.
Survivors include a son, Archie "Tom" Sawyer III, Sharpsville; a daughter,
Marsha Nunnally, Russiaville; two granddaughters, Kathy Davis and husband Greg,
Russiaville, and Saraya Davis and husband Tim, Normanda; two grandsons, Tim A. Sawyer IV
Abrams, Indianapolis, and Brent Williams, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four great-grandchildren,
Zachary, Cole and Lydia Davis, and Sarah Abrams; a brother, Don Sawyer, Kokomo; and two
sisters, Lorraine Jones, Peru, and Margaret Zerung, Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Alice Downing and Doris
Jean Sawyer; and two brothers, Jackie Wayne Sawyer and Virgil Sawyer.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with
Pastor Max Widdup officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Milton Edgar Garrison, 80

Milton Edgar Garrison, 80, Peru, passed away at 11 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at his
home. He lived in Peru since December 1999, coming from rural Wabash where he lived
several years.
He was born April 10, 1925 in Huntington County to Walter Lee and Bertha Hull Garrison. He
married Phyllis J. Cocklin, and she preceded him death Nov. 5, 1972. He then married Anna
Katherine Hoagland Oct. 28, 1967 in Rochester, and she survives.
Garrison retired from General Tire in Wabash in 1983 after 33.5 years. He was a member of
the Wabash Christian Heritage Church.
Survivors besides his wife include a daughter, Angela Dawn Pearson and husband Robert,
Huntington; a son, Robin Arthur Garrison and wife Kathleen A., Auburn; a brother, Charles
Garrison and wife Patricia, Huntington; three step-daughters, Kim Raderstorf and husband
Jay, Macy, Paula Isley and husband Earl, Peru, and Christine Whitney, Roann; 16
grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; a son, Phillip Garrison; a grandson, Ian
Raderstorf; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241
Manchester Ave., Wabash, with Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be at Memorial
Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert Miller Schram, 83

Robert Miller Schram, 83, Tipton, went to be with the Lord on Monday June 20, 2005.
He was born Dec. 4, 1921 to Mabel and Emil Schram. He married Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Myers
on June 4, 1942, and she predeceased him. Bob was blessed to meet and marry Elizabeth Ann
(Ibby Ann) Kurtz in 1977. They celebrated their 28th anniversary in January, and created a
loving blended family.
Bob had the unforgettable experience in the '30s to be a senate page. He enlisted in
the Navy in 1942, was stationed in Brazil with the Air Ship Unit and his active duty ended
in November 1945. He retired to the Naval Reserve at the rank of commander in 1961.
In Peru he had a number of responsibilities. In 1959 he joined the Peru Trust Company, now
known as Wells Fargo Bank, where he was president and chairman from 1966 until his
retirement in 1987, was vice chairman of the Indiana Port Commission 1961/1983, was
president of the Indiana Bankers Association in 1966 and a member of Indiana State Fair
Board 1947/1950. Bob was presented the Silver Beaver Award for his excellent leadership
with the Boy Scouts in 1977, was Peru Man of the Year in 1955 and was made Sagamore of the
Wabash three times. After his retirement, he served as the first chairman of the Tipton
County Foundation.
Survivors besides his wife include his three children, Tom Schram and wife Betsy, David
Schram and wife Carol, and Mary Elizabeth Schram; two stepsons, Dr. Bob Kurtz and wife
Charla, and Mike Kurtz and wife Rose; two brothers, Jim Schram and wife Sue, and Dan
Schram and wife Sandy; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and five nephews.
He was a remarkable man and touched many lives for which the family gives thanks. In lieu
of flowers a memorial donation can be given to either the Tipton County Foundation for the
Ibby Ann and Robert Schram Educational Fund, The Boy Scouts of America Sagamore Council or
Kemp United Methodist Church, Tipton.
Calling will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 5 at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru. The
memorial service will July 6 at the First Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m., with graveside
committal service immediately following. A reception will be held at The Siding after the
graveside service.
Jay A. Aikman, 53

Jay A. Aikman, 53, Rensselaer, passed away Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Rensselaer Care
Center.
He was born May 10, 1952 in Peru to Lamoine C. and Dorthy Delphena (Murphy) Aikman.
Aikman had resided in Rensselaer for 2.5 years, moving from Elkhart. He was raised in
Peru, graduated from Peru High School with the class of 1970 and attended Ball State
University, Muncie. He was a machinist at B & K Steel Company for eight years. He also
was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include Sharon K. (Caldwell) Travis, with whom he made his home; three
daughters, Tiffany E. Aikman, Kokomo, Tisha J. Aikman, Bunker Hill, and Hope Staddon and
husband Cory, Rensselaer; two sons, Sean D. Miley and wife Lee Marie, Bryan, Ohio, and
Steve Travis, Rensselaer; two brothers, Jerry Aikman, Peru, and Mike Aikman, Kokomo; two
sisters, Sue Warner, and Judy Smiley and husband Garry, all of Peru; seven nieces; two
nephews; three grandsons and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Faith Community Church, Grissom Aeroplex, at a
later date. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The Jackson Funeral
Chapel, Rensselaer, is handling the arrangements.
