I recently found that James Stephens and William Doughtery were the
first land owners of Martin County in 1814. What exactly is available
about this land record? Is there just a list of names, or is there a
document with more information on the land and the owner?
Also, my understanding is that this was Knox county at the time, then
Daviess, then Martin. Where would these records be held?
I am particularly interested in James Stephens and where he came from.
thanks,
Charlie
