With regard to divorce cases in Martin Co. at that period of time, can
anyone tell me what kind of information they are likely to contain? I
suppose names of parents and place of birth is too much to hope for!
What about names of relatives living in Martin Co.? Were there many
divorces at that period?
I would think that at that time the reason for divorce would have been
stated. I don't think there was any "no fault". Was there an actual
trial though, with witnesses testifying as to the truth of the grounds
for the divorce, the characters of the husband and wife, etc.?

was granted a divorce in Martin County, Indiana in May 1850. I've heard the
reason for the divorce was that Michael wanted to move west to build a
bridge and Nancy didn't want to go. Does anyone know more details about this
story or know of a different explanation for their divorce?
