FRED HARRIS
"MORTUARY"
"Elizabeth Sommers, nee Shaffer was born in Ohio, August 17, 1824 (My
maternal GGrandmother), and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John
O'Dell in east Odon, on Dec 2, 1901, aged 77 years, 3 months,and 5 days.
She was the wife of Joseph Sommers, and leaves six children, 29
grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a host of friendsto mourn
her loss. The children are, Jacob, John, Oliver, Mrs. Charles Freeman,
Mrs. John O'Dell and Mrs David Harris. She also leaves two brothers,
Andrew and John shaffer, aged 82 and 80 years respectively. She married
Joseph Sommers April 16, 1846. Six years later they moved to Indiana,
settling near this place.For almost sixty years she had been a member of
the ME church, and a worker for her Master.She was one the twenty four
charter members of the Good Hope Church. During her last illiness,
although she suffered much at times, she never complained, but was ready
and willing to go at the call of the savior. The funeral services were
conducted by Rev MS Taylor at Good Hope Church Tuesday morning; burial at
Walnut Hill cemetery."

"John and Fred Rea, Frank Meiser and Ernest Baumgartner left Tuesday for
Cando, North Dakota with the intention of working in that vicinity this
summer"
"DIED"
"Jacob Hoopengarner, formerly residing in Auburn Twp., but for a number
of years a resident of this place, died on Sunday night, afteran illiness
of over a year with heart trouble and dropsey. He leaves a widow, one
son, and four daughters, who deeply mourn his departure. Funeral services
will be held on this Wednesday forenoon, at the Union Hill Church, east
of town.; internment in the cemetery adjoining. His age was about 70
years. Services will be conducted by Rev GA Dreibelbies of Shanesville."
"OBITUARY"
"Sarah Hostetler was born April 2nd, 1861 and died Feb., 28, 1912, aged
50 years, 10 monthsand 26 days. She was united in marriage to Noah B.
Hostetler Sept., 14th 1878. Mr. Hostetler died Feb. 26th and was buried
on March 1st a year ago. They lived i matrimony 32 years, 5 months and 12
days. To this union were born nine children, 5 sons 4 daughters of which
two sons and two daughters preceded them to the spirit world. The
departed also leaves two brothers and four sisters to mourn her
departure.Funeral services were held on Friday foreoon conducted by Rev
Shepfer and SH Miller, and internmentin the Union Hill cemetery."
