Message Board Post:
I have a gravestone that I would like to return to the proper cemetery or
family.
It was purchased at an auction sale in Vincennes, Knox county
Indiana, but may have came from Halbert township, Martin county Indiana.
The stone reads:
NICHOLAS MARTS
son of
F. & M. MARTS
born Nov. 26, 1863
died June 29, 1864
The 1860 and 1870 census records for Halbert township, Martin county lists
a
Francis (Frank) and Mary Marts. They were the only one found with those
initials. Does anyone have any information on this family?

Dear Ernie,
I can't beleive you have a tombstone that belongs in Martin Co.
As far as I know there was only one Martz family here
in Martin Co. Nicholas must be their son.
Frank Martz died 29 Aug 1876 - age 51 - Born in Paris,
France. Buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Halbert Twp.
Shoals, IN.
Mary S. Martz died 17 Jan 1871 - age 41 - Born in Paris, France. Buried in
Spring Hill Cemetery, Shoals,
IN.
I know of one family here in town that was related. I don't
know if they would be interested or not. They would probably be gt. gt.
grandchildren.
If I can be of further help to you please let me know.
