I have estate settlements for Rufus Brown and Sanford Brown
if you want me to scan them and send them to you
I would very much appreciate them. I have what was in Martin Co. Footprints,
but I do like to have the originals if possible. Thank you so much!
I've not found anything beyond Archibald, either. He was in Bullitt Co. by
1789 (tax lists) and had a brother, William. At last year's "Maryland
Catholics to Kentucky" reunion I had a long conversation with Betty Darnell
from the Bullitt Co. Gen. Soc. She at least told me that his land surrounded
the current road from Bardstown to Mt. Washington. All I could find at the
courthouse was the court case re: the Iron Works -- nothing on Archibald
probate, etc.
I've been told - minus proof, of course, that he came from Wheeling, (West)
Virginia, after his house was destroyed by fire in 1786. Supposedly he was
born 1768 in Augusta Co. (West) Va., moved in 1781 to Nottingham twp.,
Washington Co., Penna. then somehow re-emerged in Wheeling. An Archibald was
in all those places -- definite connection missing.
