Hello Tammie,
The name Frutschey caught my eye! You wouldn't happen to know of a man and
little girl (presumably father and daughter) by that name, who used to
periodically visit the Catholic Orphanage (ST. Vincent's Asylum for Boys) in
Vincennes, IN, bringing candy to one or more boys, would you? This would
have been in the late 1870's or early 1880's.
My Great-grandfather, Charles Joseph Moberly (who died before I was born,
was placed in that orphanage in 1877, at the age of five. My grandmother,
who married Charles' son, William Theodore Mobley, has often told me that
Charles used to talk of a man and a little girl who used to visit him
periodically, bringing him candy. She says their last name was something
that sounded like "Fritchie". Charles said they suddenly stopped coming. He
thought they might be related to him, but possibly they regarded visiting
orphans as their Christian duty. Someone, however did keep Charles for a
year between the death of his mother and his entry into the orphanage. Your
Frutschey family might be a possibility.
Carol

My g-grandma's married name was Gribble. She was married to a Frutschey
but he
died in a mine accident in 1900. I don't know where she was born,
and I don't have a maiden name. She would have been 36 years old, because
according to the 1900 census, she was 27.
Any info on this family might help me find out more about her. The
spelling of
Miller could also be Muller.
Thanks for the help,
Tammie
