Many thanks for your reply. The James Sylvester Crane about whom I
asked is the older brother to a James R. CRANE b. 1852 in Martin Co. I
see by looking through the census pages that the CRANE families settled
close together in Perry Township.
Debra Dougherty suggests that the closest connection to the RAGLE
familyline is through Margaret Ragle, the dau. of John Ragle and Eliza
Webster [Ragle]. That John Ragle (dob 1808) is the brother of my 2x GGF
Peter Ragle (dob 1806). Both were from Tennessee but were hauled up to
so. Indiana by their widowed mom around 1820. The father of these Ragles
died in the War of 1812.
