In Indiana death records are kept by the County and State Health Department. In Martin
Co., death records begin in 1882 and can be obtained from the Martin Co. Health Dept.,
P.O. Box 219, Shoals, IN 47581. The State Board of Health, Division of Vital Records,
1330 W. Michigan St., Indianapolis, IN 46206 has records beginning in 1900.They are not
necessarily the same in that there are times that Indi has some that Shoals doesn't
and vice versa.
The WPA has indexed B,M, and D records for Martin Co. I know they are available at
the Ft. Wayne Public Library, Indiana State Library, Shoals Library and Family History
Library.
Hope this helps......the book I got the addresses from is1985 but I believe
they're still good.

Can someone tell me how to get full information on a death of an ancestor or
get the information by email or mail? I remember (years ago) that I went to a
doctor's office for the full death records and they were free. Is this still
the case?
