Does anyone else have information on Jeremiah Raney and Mary Joan (Sheehan Moore) Raney
who are buried in St. Rose Cemetary in Martin Co, IN?
Anyone know who their parents were? Need date of death on both of them also. Thanks.
In the National Archives in Washington DC, Jeremiah Riney is listed with his famiy in the
1810 Census in KY. In the 1820 Census and 1830 Census they are in (Martin Co) IN and the
spelling is Raney.
I can send a copy of the National Archives info if anyone wants it. There are other
Raney's and Riney's in those three census.
Has anyone found him in 1790 or 1800 Census? Maybe in another household???
1790 MD census was very difficult to read, but I didn't see him there.
According to the ages that they gave in these three census', he and his wife Mary Joan
Sheehan Moore Raney, were born between 1765 and 1770. A little young to be a participant,
(but anything is possible. I would be very proud if he were a Rev Soldier.)
I have been told that there is a Jeremiah Raney Rainey? Riney? buried in New York.
In the National Archives Rev Soldier records, "R" roll there is a Jeremiah
Rainey and one other spelling for him (have to look for that). This Jeremiah served in the
NY 5th Regiment.
Jeremiah's stone in St. Rose Cemetary in Martin Co, Indiana was dedicated as a
Revolutionary soldier around 1930, but that line was closed as it could not be
substantiated.
While we are on the Raney's, I have been told that his son, James Virgil Raney served
in the Mexican War and was a recruiter in the Civil War. Can anyone substantiate this?
I keep looking for him in any military records, that I come across.

James Virgil Raney's were my gg grandparents and John Allen Raney's were my great
grandparents. I took pictures of John and Martha Raney's tombstone in Whitfield, IN in
November. Hope to get back there this summer and go to St. Rose Cemetary and see Jeremiah
and James Raney stones and do more research. Anyone have copies of birth, marriage or
death certificates for any of these folks?
Thank you.
