I am researching the PATE family...
Dear Robert...
I have the feeling we've emailed before, but don't find any records of it.
Here is the text of a letter that W. W. Pate wrote to my great grandfather
Alonzo Ragle, husband of Susan Ellen Toon:
" Pleasant Hill, Mo, Nov. 24, 1876
"Dear Brother and Sister [envelope addressed to "Elinzo Ragale Esq. Keck's
Church, Martin Co. Ind."]
"I with a sad hart take my pen hand to drope you a line Eliza died on
20th day of November She died in full faith of a better life I am so sad
that I can not tell you all I will send you somthing more in a short time
I am going to still keep [ilegible; on fold] She supplied a grate deal
and my object is to live to meet her in a better land The children is
all well hope you are the same May the blessing of heven rest on
all With tears in my eyes I close Oh what can I do Yours
WW Pate"
I have the original, as well as a couple of other letters that Eliza wrote
to her sister Susan [they were 4 years apart].
I have records on a passle of Pates, mostly [I think] from Jinks Pate Lee.
