I found some great information for you. First of all I will list some marriage record info I found. This first set is records listing their parents:
Crane Margaret J John C Alvina Ellis F W 30 10/14/1887 14 82
Taylor Shelby L Benjamin Mary M Rauch M W 30 10/14/1887 14 82
-----------------------------------------
Taylor Shelby L Benjamin Mary A Bough M W 51 5/28/1909 16 13
Penn Phoeba A Jack Elizaboth Ellis F W 50 5/28/1909 16 13
-----------------------------------------
These lists spouses:
Taylor Shelby L Phoeba A Penn May 29 1858 W May 28 1909 8 502
Taylor Shelby Mary J Cannon May 22 1881 4 282
-----------------------------------------
1870 census, Martin Co., Columbia Twp.
Benjamin Taylor 40 b. KY
Mary 40 b. KY
Isaac 12 b. KY
LOID 10 b. KY
William 8 b. KY
William 6 b. KY (according to other records should be Thomas)
Susan 3 b. KY
1880 census, Martin Co., Columbia Twp.
E. T. TAYLOR 55 NC Blacksmith NC NC
Lucinda 37 IN Keeps House --- ---
Susannah 15 KY Home NC IN
Harrison F. 8Mths IN NC IN
SHELBY 22 KY Laborer NC IN
Thos. M. 16 KY Laborer NC IN
As you can see, some of the names are different. This happens often in records, depending on them using middle names and how readible the images are. Also, it seems that Mary (Baugh) Taylor died between 1864-1870 and Benjamin remarried -- twice. I will explain. Based on a marriage transcription listing parents names if found the wife to explain the 1880 census info as follows:
Taylor Cora Benj Lucinda Savage F W 19 10/19/1899 15 2
In looking for the marriage record of Benjamin and Lucinda...I found that Lucinda had been married before to Stephen Eno and that should help explain this next two marriage records:
Savage Lucinda L Stephen J Eno Feb 27 1868
Eno Sinda (Lu"cinda") Benjamin Taylor W Mar 28 1878 4 56
Taylor Benjamin Sinda Eno W Mar 28 1878 4 56
Then I found another marriage record that showed he was married to a another Mary - as follows:
Taylor Benjamin Mary A Johnson Aug 30 1866 2 346
Therefore, Thomas (listed as William in 1870) was the last child of the first marriage and Susan the first child of this marriage.
So...it explains the 1880 census. Now, for the 1870 census...Shelby is listed as Loid (Lloyd). This must be his middle name. In the marriage records above, he is listed as Shelby L. Taylor. I found another marriage transcription listing parents names of one of his sons as follows:
Taylor Clyde A Loven Margaret Crane M W 22 4/20/1909 16 12
As you can see...Loven is NOT Lloyd, but it certainly adds credence to the middle initial of L. and usage of his middle name - whatever it really was! Also, as you can see from the first marriage records I listed...He was married 3 times as well. First to Mary Cannon, second - Margaret Crane, third - Pheobe Penn. I also found info to help more here. Here is a birth record with Mary as his wife:
Taylor? S S Mary J Cannon M W Nov 24 1885 COH- 1 150
Therefore she must have died between 11/1885-10/1887. I also found a birth record with Margaret as wife:
Taylor S L Margaret J Crain M W Oct 3 1889 COH- 1 278
Then I found a death record on her:
Taylor Margaret F W 49 May 5 1908 M C COH-12 6
I hope this information is of help.

What I know: Newton Warren Rector was born in 1856. Erah Mae Jackson was born in 1857. They were married in 1876 in Edgar Co. IL. Their daughter, Mable Anna, was born April 20, 1892 in Douglas Co. IL. Their other children were Guy, Harry, and Daisy. All are buried in Douglas Co. IL.
Erah Mae's father was James Jackson (1824-1901) and her mother was Samanth (Sarah) Hunt (1829 Brown Co. IN-1873)
During my fathers recent funeral, I spoke to an elderly lady that had married into the family long ago. She only remembered that "Uncle Newt and Aunt Erie had come from the Loogootee area".
Any info on these people would be appreciated.

Shelby married Margaret Crane. I have a lot of info on her. I have a possible lead that Shelby's parents were Benjamin Taylor and Mary Ann Bough. Seeking any info that could confirm this, or any info about his ancestors.
Also seeking Wallace Crosslin that also posted for info on Shelby Love Taylor 2 years ago.

Hi;
I am a Genealogical Librarian for the local LDS church in Central Point, OR. I am currently working with a Floyd Hislip on his Blood Line. Floyd was b. 1911 and he is the son of Fay Cromer Hislip, who was the son of Obediah Hislip, who was the son of "David" Henson Hislip. Are there any siblings that you could help me with for him? He has siblings for his Father's family, but only a few for Obediah and no siblings for "David" Henson Hislip.
Thank you for your help . . .
Great! You answered my question so promptly. I am glad I decided to ask. I
just recently found out about my great grandfather's second marriage. I
appreciate your kindness. Emileen
Elizabeth Cannon was a Sinclair. Her first husband was
Robert Laughlin.
Her daughter, Emma Laughlin, married Omar Wilcoxin
in Martin Co. 4-22-1889. Proof: Martin Co. marriage records
for Emma Laughlin stating her parents.

Elizabeth, 22, IN
I hope this helps whoever is working on this family.

Hello Emileen.....
I'm not connected to any of these lines.... however I decided to do a
little poking around...... It appears that your Elizabeth was a buzy
person.... The plot thickens.... Elizabeth LAUGHLIN married John BURTON,
October 15, 1872 in Martin County, Indiana and per the LDS 1880 Census she
was the head of household with one child named Emmie LAUGHLIN, 11 years old
and two younger children with the surname of BURTON...... NOTE: in the
1900 Census Emma was born October 1867...... In the 1900 Census Elizabeth
is listed as a widow..... Then September 26, 1901 Elizabeth married John
CANNON in Martin County..... Per the Indiana Death Index, Elizabeth CANNON
died September 14, 1910.... however the 1910 Census was taken April 28,
1910 and John was listed as a widow..... [That's conflicting info].....
It appears that your Elizabeth was married to an Unknown LAUGHLIN, possibly
in the early 1860's.......
John CANNON died after 1920.... He is still living in the 1920
Census......
Suggestion: Try to locate Elizabeth's children's death certificates to see
if they give her maiden name....
Hope this is of some help and hasn't blown your mind.....

Thanks Nancy. I don't think this Daniel Edwards is who I'm looking for. If he and Anna would have remained consistent with their ages from the 1850 census (both age 35, which would have put them having been born about 1815), I would say that the parents of Daniel would probably have been Daniel Edwards and Susannah Hedrick. I have recorded the information you and Fay have posted for me, and maybe I'll run across a link between this Daniel and the other one!!

I'm looking for anyone who might have information regarding a Daniel Edwards who married Ann Simmons in Martin Co. on Oct. 15, 1834. Who were his parents? When did he and Ann die and where are they buried? I have four known children for them: Ann born about 1843, Mary born about 1845, John born abouut 1848 and Henry born about 1853. They lived in Lost River Township.
Thanks.
