I'm looking for information on Mary Tewell who married Thomas Williams. They are my great great grandparents. I don't have any dates except guessing the time would be anywhere between 1840 and 1900. I don't know whether they were born there but their son, (the only one I know of at this time), George Richard Williams was from Martin County, Indiana. George Richard married Katie Essex, who was from Larue County, Kentucky. If anyone with info on these people would contact me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lynda,
There were two Sanford Browns in Martin Co. The oldest one married
Elizaaabeth Clemments in Martin Co.
22 Dec 1825. He later married Julia Halbert, 2-11-1836.
Here is Sanford in 1830 census of Martin Co.
1 male under 5
1 maale 5-10
1 male 10-15
1 male 15-20
1 male 30-40
2 females under 5
1 female 15-20
1 female 2030
1 feamle 40-50
I think Sanford Brown, Rufus Brown, and Daniel Brown
were all brothers. They were old pioneers of Martin Co.,
and were here in 1820 when Hindostan was made the first county seat.
The Other Sanford Brown was my Father's cousin. He
was b. 7 Dec 1859 and died 11 Nov 1939. He married
the following: Isabelle Wildman, Mary L. Gootee, and last, Harriett Bramble.
He was the son of John H. Brown
and Mary Ellen Padgett Brown. They are all buried at
St. John's cemetery, Loogootee, IN.
I do have more info if you will please tell me which of these men you think
is your ancestor.
Thank you,
Nancy Brown Baker

Lynda: From your comments, Sanford Brown was b. abt. mid-century 1850.
Perhaps these early Indiana Browns cross with yours?
I have a Hannah E. Brown, b. November 05, 1841 near Richmond, IN who
married Clarkson Davis, b. January 07, 1833 in Fountain City, Wayne Co. IN.
Clarkson Davis is in my direct family line. I also have an Edward Stinson
Brown, b. March 05, 1887 in IN who mar. Golden Glee Ragle, b. April 22,
1894 in s. IN, on June 19, 1913, also in southern Indiana. Golden Glee
Ragle is in my direct family line.
Side info: Clarkson Davis entered Friends Boarding School -- was first
teacher of mathematics. Eventually took charge of Spiceland Academy. He and
his wife
Hannah both taught until he died ca. 1888. He had TB most of his life.
Clarkson
was called "Doc," and taught also at Earlham College.

Lynda:
I looked among my Brown Surnames. I did not find your Harry, Sanford, or Mary Brown. As I continue, to do my research; I will keep a watch for your Brown family. Sorry, I wasn't any help. Let me know, if I can help any further.
Thank you
