Hi Nancy,
Thanks for the 1850 info but I had already seen that. You've helped me before with my Peek family and I
appreciate you looking this up. What I was hoping for was an 1860 census when she would have been married to
Jesse and I could verify which Nancy he married - the 1798 in SC or the 1828 in IN. I will keep checking and
hoping there are more Veale researchers out there who may be familiar with my Nancy.
Thank you!
Mary in CA

Hello Vernon in CT,
You wrote about searching for any other members of the Owens family.
Most of my research is on Owen Owens (1746) and his family. I found two
William Owens, but I don't have data on either one. Sorry, I do not have any
info on Elizabeth Baker or Rosetta Funkhauser.
If you are interested in Owen Owens, he came to Augusta County, VA then
to Fincastle in 1772. The family tradition as told about 1913 stated that
Owen Owens was born in North Wales. He was a minister and educated for the
period of time in which he lived. He served as an aide and mail carrier for
General Marion in the American Revolution. He lived in Georgia, Tennessee,
Kentucky and settled in Indiana in 1830. He died in the northern part of the
state in 1809, and he was buried in the Breckenridge Cemetery near Bedford,
Indiana. Owen Owens met an Irish girl on board the ship on which he came to
America and later married her after a season of apprenticeship to pay for the
passage. John Fleece Owens said his grandfather, Owen Owens, came from Wales
and his grandmother, Sophia Wade was born in Ireland. They worked their way
over from the old country and settled in Tennessee. A check of the
Washington County records gave a reference to Owen Owens as a minister of the
gospel of the Baptist Church.
Good Luck to you on your search, Mary Ann Wade
