I find it very interesting that you list Horein... My line includes a
marriage of Samuel Corl to a Tobitha Orin back in 1820. The couple moved to
Akron area of Ohio in 1827, and then later some of the family moved on into
Marshall Co, IN, but not Samuel and Tobitha. Strange part is, that Tobitha
was later buried in Good Fellows Cemetery in Bourbon, IN, not with her
husband. I wonder if there is any chance your Horeins are my Orins? Where
does the census say they were from?
I can see the possibility of the name variation, but I've not researched
any HORINEs in the Akron, OH area so I can't be of assistance on that
theory.
My branch of the HOREINs did not immigrate to the U.S. until 1840. My
HOREIN ancestors lived in Holmes and Tuscarawas Co, OH for several years,
then moved to Madison Twp, St. Joseph Co, IN ca 1856. Ours was the only
HOREIN branch that settled in northern Indiana. Additionally, our family
seems to be the only ones using that spelling; others in the U.S. spell the
name HORINE, HOREN, or HOHREIN.
