I need some help! I hope I can explain this so you can understand!
I found a birthday greeting card that is about 5x7 and a little heavier
than a photo but not like cardboard. It doesn't open like a card and is
one-sided. There is a poem and under the poem it is signed on one line by
Mary Rettinger - Cradle Roll Supt. The second line is United Brethren
Sunday School. I'm sure this is from Bourbon, Ind.
Above the poem is written my dad's name and the date May 25, 1917.
There are colored roses around an oval picture. The picture is of a lady
holding a child who looks like a two year old, which my dad would be at
this above date.
The picture looks like a photo insert. My question is could this possibly
be my grandmother and dad or would you think this is just a average card
that the Sunday school put out for all of their children. I have another
card for his 1st birthday from the same place with a one year old baby
picture in a oval picture. This one has pencil markings all over it.
These are cherished now, but would be even more so if these are true
pictures of my dad and his mother. I don't have any pictures of my
grandmother to go by and none of my dad in his childhood days.
Has anyone seen anything like these from the Bourbon area?
I know this got quite long. Thank you for putting up with me and thank you
for any help or advice on this matter.
