I have been pondering what will happen to my "stuff" when I kick the bucket.
All these mysteries that have been investigated, and files created when
nothing formerly existed. I think I will air them on this site, over time.
For instance, Millersville. Try and find something at the library on the
subject! Since I have been bitten by the history bug, about 7 years ago, I
have compiled abstracts of titles, it was almost named the Town of
Independence, pictures and family histories, records of the Lodge, the Horse
Thief Detective Agency, the tight knit community and their cemetery by
choice!
I have been lucky to meet two long time historians who have helped in
finding answers. Earl Anderson, an amazing person with a photographic
memory and a genius to match. He worked at the Indiana State Library 36
years and microfilmed the newspaper collections.
He passed away Dec. 2007.
Also, Miss Thelma M. Murphy, now 94, who developed a life long love of
history starting in her 5th grade at Crooked Creek Elementary School in
1925. Since, she has recorded and researched her 1,200 descendants. She
has contributed over sixty items to the ISL, including many first hand
accounts with cemetery readings. We still go on roots-tours!
I am thinking if, on this site, I submitted the stories, they will forever
be in the archived section of the Marion County Roots Web for future folks
to find answers or ancestors. Next e-mail is 1st one.
I urge anyone on this list to do the same. If you would like accompanying
captions with photo's to each story please e-mail me off list.
