My father was young when the war ended. He remembers going to the Circle
where everyone was celebrating. His favorite memory was that he got his 1st
balloon!!! (I believe they were made out of rubber and rationed during the
war.)

Subject: [INMARION] End of WWI
Hi all,
My grandmother told me that about a week before the Armistace was
signed ending World War I that in the middle of the night the
whistles began blowing and bells ringing with people shouting the war
was over. Then the next day it was announced that the war wasn't
over yet. Has anyone else heard this? My grandmother was about 18
when this happened and always had a sharp memory. They were living
on East Merrill Street between Delaware and Alabama.
Joel
