Marian, It is so sad to hear it's getting cold in Florida! Anybody living
north of Indy have been blasted by snows on top of snows and terrible winter
overall. Not many escaped this year.
I can't believe that two people even living in the 1950's could not be
married and living together. Wouldn't they be ex-communicated from their
families, church?
When Marilyn Barber started the Ebenezer website, she researched all the
1.050 families listed so it would be more complete than just the original
reading had from the 1950's. A monumental task. We were able to add some 70
more names from research and what John Walters found when he restored the
cemetery in 2003.
We do put an American Flag on Harris Tyner's grave every Decoration Day.
I don't think there is a way to add the names until Marilyn finds her crib
notes on how to do it. Her computer crashed and she lost everything!
You should probably buy an external back-up hard drive too! They are coming
down in price.
Many Smith's listed at Ebenezer- Fall Creek. Some are mine and some may be
yours. Did you know you can click on the name of the individual on cemetery
listings on the website and it reveals the photo of the tombstone?
I have a 92 year old Messersmith cousin who is about ready to publish a
large book on the family and not one photo! If you write one, put me on the
distribution list!
What did you think of Mardenna Johnson Hunter's website where she traces all
her Johnson's back to Adam & Eve. Did you make any connections? It's here:

I finally got around to really going into this Ebenezer cemetery site and
noticed that you don't have the parents of Harris Tyner shown. That brought
up the idea of sending you my Tyner information.
According to the family lore, and printed for distribution by Lee Harper at
one of the Tyner reunions, John Harris Tyner was the one who emigrated from
Britain to the Colonies. When I began researching the Tyners, I found that
wasn't true and that our surname should have been Harris. When Sarah Tyner
and John Harris had three children but weren't married, they retained the
name of Tyner but began using Harris as a first name, middle name, etc. I
guess it was too much for the family to handle so they made up the story
about John H. being the first Tyner in America. Actually, it was his
grandfather, Nicholas who was the first to emigrate from Britain. I have
searched and searched as have others but cannot locate any information about
where he came from or who his parents were.
Since Tyner/Harris DNA testing became available, I contacted a Tyner cousin
(had to be a male descendant with the last name Tyner) and he graciously had
the testing done--positive for Harris connection!
When I first broke the story to Paul and our then 92 year old cousin Frances
Smith (granddaughter of Cora Tyner Roberts, daughter of Harry and Ina
Roberts Smith--also members of Ebenezer), they were flabbergasted and
unbelieving. With all of the proof, they finally accepted it.
Paul has been accumulating information for a book about the Tyners but, in
ten years, he still has not finished it. I guess he is like the artist who
never finishes a painting...
I have also printed my Johnson family info and will send all of this
together in a big envelope as soon as I can get one. I have begun this
Johnson info with the earliest dated individual. The prior info is based on
lore, etc. You can see in the report that I have entered information back
to Baoth, not attempting to go back any further in FTM program. I do have
the rest of the info I can scan and send should you be interested.
P.S. I'm sitting here at my computer where, when I sat down, the
thermometer registered 68 degrees. I just looked at the thermometer because
the windows are steaming up and the thermometer registers 48, and it's only
1:00!!! As predicted, hopefully tonight will be the final freeze of the
season... It must really be cold in Indiana!
