In 1890, the Indianapolis City Directory lists a Frederick Culloden, a "traveling
agent," living at 140 Fletcher avenue.
In 1900 census, I found Fred Culloden in Bozeman Montana, b. Ireland, 1831. He's an
insurance agent and has been married to "Emma" for 10 years. She is younger than
he is, having been born in 1855 in Kentucky. This would mean they were married in 1890, so
perhaps something happened to "J. Mary."
I found a Frederick EULLODEN (NOTE misspelling) in 1910 in Bozeman Montana. The actual
image looks like Culloden to me. He is 77 (about the right age) and says his parents were
born in Ireland, and that he immigrated to the U.S. in 1835(?) writing is not very legible
-- and has been naturalized. However, his wife has given her name as "Emma" and
they have been married for 20 years.
A Montana Death index shows that a Frederick Culloden, b. ca 1832, died on September 3,
1916.
BTW: a Ralph W. Colloden was listed as Missing in Action in WWII in 29 Dec. 1944. (U. S.
Navy Reserves)
ALSO -- since you are researching the Culloden name, I noticed a town named
"Culloden," in Monroe County, Georgia. And there is a Culloden Street somewhere
in Connecticut.
Also found another Collodon from Ireland living in Indianapolis, IN. He was a real estate
agent I think.
And since you are, I believe, from Australia and NZ, you are probably aware of the
Cullodon who went to Australia in 1854.
Best wishes,

Subject: [INMARION] Where did they get to ??? - any suggestions please ?
Good morning/evening everyone. This is my first message to this group so
please excuse me if I make any boo-boos.
As the world-wide representative for the Guild of One-Name Studies I am
responsible for finding and documenting with sources, all references to
CULLODEN families.
I am having trouble with the family below as they seem to have vanished off
the face of the earth - yes I know this is not an unusual occurrence.
1880 census Indianapolis 10th ward, Marion, Indiana, USA
East New York Street, North Side, house no: 334
1. Frederick CULLODEN, white, male, age 45, born abt 1835 Ireland, head,
Commercial Agent, father born Scotland, mother born Ireland
2. J Mary CULLODEN, female, age 37, born abt 1843 Indianapolis, wife,
keeping house, father & mother born Kentucky, married, white
3. W Herber [sic] CULLODEN, male, age 22, born abt 1858 Kentucky, son,
saloon keeper, father born Ireland, mother born Indianapolis, single, white
4. Franklin CULLODEN, male, age 18, born abt 1862, Kentucky, son, at school,
father born Ireland, mother born Indianapolis, white
This is the first and last sighting of any of the members of this family.
They are not to be found in any of the following records even using spelling
variants.
Censuses for USA, CANADA, ENGLAND, IRELAND AND WALES.
BDMs in England, India and Australia
I am hoping that someone may be able to help me find SOMETHING about this
family in local records which I am unfamiliar with and with which I have no
access to.
Many thanks in advance to all those who give this problem some thought.
Please also advise if this query would e better sent to another list.
Cheers frm Valerie in sunny Sydney
Please excuse any spelling or punctuation mistakes as at the moment I am on
my back using one finger of my left hand but will be back to normal by the
beggining of June.
