Hello,
Does anyone know how I could look up jail records records around 1938 - 1942
time period.

Hi Denise,
Thanks for the email. In fact, that's exactly what I did - I wrote to the
library. They were just great - did a couple of lookups in the old
directories and sent me an obit and a death notice for him. That did the
trick and I was recently able to contact his daughter.

Colleen:
I don't know if anyone responded to this post, but the main branch of
the Indianapolis Public Library on Walnut Street has a business
section. In that room is housed numerous business and city
directories. I would be that they have the actual city directories in
that room and, depending upon their time, might be able to do a lookup
for you. Or, if someone on the list lives in the Indianapolis
community and frequents that library, they may offer to do a lookup
for you. I used to live just about 10 blocks from that library and
spent quite a bit of time there. It is a very large building and
contains much information.
