Can you imagine being called to supper for "Rumor of Pork"?
Tough times! We came together. Could something good come out of our current
situation? Let's hope so...Bob

Subject: Re: [INMARION] HARD TIMES Grocery Shelf
I talked to my grandmother a few years ago about their lives during the
Great Depression. She and her family lived about an hour north of Indy. Her
family was very fortunate, her father managed to keep his job with the
railroad and also worked for the local doctor as a gardener for a dollar a
day. They lived in a farming community and my great-grandpa wanted to be a
farmer but couldn't afford a farm (he ended up buying his grandfather's farm
in 1943). But he helped out his father and brothers and they had their own
garden at home and my grandma said they never went hungry (although they
went without a lot of things).
I guess that is the real difference between people back then and people now.
The desire for "things" keeps many people a lot closer to homelessness than
they probably ought to be, especially in these days of credit card debt and
being able to get a loan for anything.
