It was started because Hiram Bacon & wife wanted to give land
north of their
house at 57th & Keystone Av. John Johnson, son of Jeremiah was an elder.
This earliest of Marion County churches had a graveyard north of the log
church. This would place it just below the Dawson and Culbertson graveyards
at Kessler Blvd. & Keystone, where Hezekiah was buried.
Hi Bob, I was just scanning thru the messages quickly and the mention
of a Dawson graveyard jumped out at me. I'm wondering if it might be
the same one that I've found reference to while researching my 3rd
great grandfather, Elijah Dawson. I need to spend some more time and
effort on this line.
Apparently most of my lines migrated from both Clinton and Marion
counties to south central Kansas during the 1880s.
Anyhow....according to the following info found online, he was born
December 31, 1781 in Loudin County, Virginia; died July 21, 1858 in
Washington Township, Marion County, Indiana. He was the son of Charles Dawson.
Here's the notes for him that I have in my database:

This site references the source of info as:
Winnie N. Spencer
3131 Apple Blossom Circle
Las Vegas, NM 98117-3221(1998)
They go on to say that her records show that Elijah was 77y, 5m, 20da
old at the time of his death. He was buried in the Dawson family
cemetery located on his farm, now a part of Indianapolis. Apparently,
his grave, along with many others, were relocated to Crown Hill
Cemetery when they started developing the town of Indianapolis.
Winnie's records also show that Elijah was the administrator of his
father's (Charles) estate on 21 May 1827 and that Elijah belonged to
the 36th Regiment of the Virginia Militia.
