Marian, I heard wild turkey's still run loose in Indiana, even Ft. Harrison
State park. I have also seen Turkey Buzzards there! On the marching
field.
When I was a kid in the fifties, and my family would go to Turkey Run State
Park, we would collect Turkey feathers for using as quill pens, but never
saw the turkeys. I don't think I could display a turkey's beard on the wall.

When we lived in Mississippi, my husband used to hunt wild turkeys. Having
a turkey's beard was considered an ultimate trophy. I don't recall that he
was ever successful as the bird is very illusive but I have seen wild turkey
beards, some of which are 6 to 7 inches in length.
Are there still wild turkeys in Indiana? I don't recall...
Bob,
Last year there was a wild turkey in downtown Danville.? Everyone had to stop while it was
walking down the middle of the street.? The police even had to try to shoo it away from
the street!!? Everyone thought it was hilarious.? I tried to find it, never did.
