Hello.
Thank you for your kindness and for giving me some new residence information
concerning my Uncle Jim Redmond. I wasn't aware he was stationed at Fort
Knox in KY in 1935. I have tracked him on the Census of 1900, 1910, 1920,
1930 and now 1940. In 1920 he was stationed at Fort Custer in Calhoun Co,
MI and in 1930 he was at Fort Hamilton Military Reservation, Brooklyn,
Kings, NY. And now, thanks to you, we know he was at Fort Knox in KY
before moving on to Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana. Now I am wondering
which branch of the Army he was a member and what rank he attained.
I recall only meeting my Uncle Jim one time and that was in 1938 when I was
8 yrs old. Jim's younger brother Joseph had been killed in an automobile
accident in Dayton, OH and my parents were able to locate Jim and he came to
the funeral. I recall he was married but she did not attend the funeral.
She was the mother of five children but Uncle Jim had not adopted them which
leads me to believe their father was still living at that time.
I am surprised there is a possibility that James met Hazel in Indiana. I
thought I was told Hazel was born somewhere in New England or New York area
and met James when he was stationed in NY
Again, thank you!
Jo Redmond Kester

The 1940 Census on
FamilySearch.Org shows my Uncle James Redmond living in
Lawrence Twp, Marion Co, IN. I don't have a street address for him in
1940.
In 1938 his mailing address was RR 2 Box 367 Indianapolis, IN and in 1942
his address was 3134 Orchard Ave, Indianapolis, IN.
He was a member of the Regular Army and was stationed at Ft. Benjamin
Harrison. My family lost contact with him during WW II and I have been
trying to find when he died and where he is buried.
I am hoping that someone who knows how to search the 1940 Census and could
share with me the information it might have for James Redmond. Thank you!
