Hi Bob and Rose,
I just read your response to Rose after I finished writing her earlier
today, and your discovery of other Muellers in the area has prompted me to
add a couple of comments!
First of all, is there any possibility that Lorenz could have been a middle
name for the Muellers you located? As you know, a lot of people drop their
first names and go by their middle names, as did my mother and sister. The
other question I have is whether Lorenz's name might have inadvertently
mispelled, or changed after he came to the USA? For example, my Great
Grandfather Albert Schneider showed up on several early censuses as Albert
Snyder, rather than the original German spelling of Schneider. Another
thing I've heard from a friend down here in GA is that the Mueller name was
changed to Miller, plus Lorenz might be listed as Lawrence, or even Larry.
So Lorenz Mueller might appear as Lawrence Miller or Larry Miller.
Just thoughts ...
Hope you are having a great day!
Terre

Subject: [INMARION] LORENZ MUELLER
Gutten Tag Rose! The Poor House was just up the street on Tibbs, on the
West side, by 21st St. They had a cemetery on the property and I can't
remember what happened to it.. Or if the library has readings. There is a
Charles Mueller From Marion County died Sep. 22, 1910 at the Central State
Hospital cemetery and in the Mt. Jackson cemetery on Tibbs are 5 Muellers,
Adolph, Clement [who was moved to Crown Hill] George, Gladys and possibly a
infant. What is your grandfather's name? If you find him you might find
his brother Lorenz.
Speaking about poorhouses, we visited some orphanages in Darmstadt area and
most of the children in them were left because the parents were too poor to
raise them. It was so sad.
Germany is beautiful, and from anywhere, you can make weekend trips to other
countries. When I was there, a Deutsch Mark equaled 25 cents, one quarter.
What is a Mark now? I here everyone is using Euro's...Bob

Hi Terre and Bob,
I am living in Germany, maybe not so far from Tieringen, if your Tieringen
is in the county of Balingen (next to Ratshausen and Schoemberg).
A brother of my grandfather - Lorenz Mueller, has died july 2, 1912 at the
age of 61 years in the Marion County Poor House in Wayne Township, Indy and
was buried the next day. I do not know where. Is the Marion County Poor
House in Tibbs Av the same as Central State Hospital for the insane? Maybe
he was depressive? he had lived there for abt 12 years (death certificate).
A younger brother of him was found dead in the Canal and the family never
knew if it was an accident, a suicide or a murder.
Sincerely
Rose
