I am in the final stages of a length research in regard to my g-g-grandfather,
George W. Culler [1833-1905]. As a genealogy project, it seems to have been born for
success in nearly every regard. Grandfather served in the Civil War on the Union
side, having enlisted in the 149th Indiana Infantry [Company B] in 1865, a few months
prior to the close of the war. The B Company volunteers were recruited mainly from Clay
and Owen counties, and the Regiment mustered out in Indianapolis.
One of the treasures which had been passed down through our family was a unit
photograph of the company. Due to circumstances beyond anyones control, the photo has now
been lost. I have embarked on a longtime effort to find another copy of it.
I have checked endlessly the on-line holdings of the Indiana Historical Society, as
well as of each and every collection which I could locate, but with no success.
Can anyone help me? Surely there must be another copy out there somewhere.
All leads will be followed up.
Thanks to you all.
