Bob,
Thank you again for all you help. The article about the cemeteries was enlightening and I
have copied it. It explains some things. I do have photos of the King stones but
appreciate you offering to get photos of them. You are always to gracious to help
everyone!
Sincerely,
Janet

Janet, the CD is a compilation of all the material that is available. It
will never be complete as the Greenlawn cemetery office suffered from a fire
that destroyed early records.
In an old article it mentions that while searching for a possible clue to
burials in Greenlawn, if you see in Crown Hill a death date on a stone prior
to Crown Hill's founding, it may have come from the older cemetery.
I was in Crown Hill Saturday. If you don't have photo's of the site let me
know with plot numbers and I will get photo's of the King stones for you.
Bob

Bob,
Thanks for the detective work! My John King was in the 1870 Census with his
wife and children so couldn't be the John listed as a Civil Way soldier
dying in 1862. My William King I last found in the 1860 Census so this
might be him. There was a William in the 1870 census who had a wife named
Florence but I can't tell if this was our William. I sent for an obituary
for him and it just listed his name and death date telling he was a Civil
War soldier so I couldn't tell if that was him. There are lots of Kings
with the same names in the area. All I could find on both men's' burials is
the Crown Hill Cemetery record that says they were re interred 4 May 1887 in
Crown Hill, probably moved from Greenlawn Cemetery, when their stepmother
bought a large plot in Crown Hill and had her husband's first wife and
several children re interred there.
So does the CD you bought have the same information on it that is in a
Greenlawn book at the State Library and the one at the Genealogy Society of
Marion Co. Library or should I still ask the Librarian to search them for
me?
Thanks,
Janet
