There is a great site called
Footnote.com that has begun to scan records
from the National Archives (NARA) among which are the military records of
Civil War soldiers. (And which can then be downloaded for your personal
files). One does need to subscribe to the site, but I have found it well
worth the price. If you give me the name of your ancestor, I can try to
see if there is much information on him.
Regards, Catherine

Thank you, Bob!
My Civil War ancestor is there.
I'm looking forward to the citation & view of the image.
Were obituaries printed for the common soldier?
I'm still searching for my ancestors' burial place, and am hoping that
the obituary might say.
Thanks again!
