Thank you ----that did the trick. Now I need to find out what kind of job
the word "lab" means in my GG grandfather's entry. I assume it is his job
description. He had just arrived from Ireland, and I'm sure he was not a lab
technician ! Is there a source for defining the job titles in directories?

Go to
http://www.archive.org Near the top is a search box and type in
Indianapolis city directory and click on the red GO button and the search
results has a list of 61 items. On the list that I get the 13th item says
Indianapolis, Indiana city directory (Volume yr.1881).
