At the age of 50+, my husband has just found out that the man who raised
him is not his biological father. He knows nothing but his biological
father's name--HAROLD MCWILLIAMS. My husband was born in Indianapolis in
1945, and after much searching, we finally have his birth certificate with
his biological father's name on it. The certificate we have says it is a
certificate of birth, about 1/2 page size, put out by the Indiana State
Dept. of Health. It only gives his mother's and father's name, the date he
was born, and where his parents were born. It also lists a certificate
number that starts 113-, and the other 6 numbers have been typed in. Is
there any way he can get any more information? What is the certificate
number? The certificate has a number itself, and it is different from the
certificate number. The man who raised him is unable to give any more
information, and his mother is dead. So, he has hit a stone wall. He does
have a receipt for his delivery, that lists the attending physician as a
Dr. C. O. McCormick. Sometimes when you do genealogy, you open a can of
worms, and this is one of those times. Any help or suggestions would be
most welcome and greatly appreciated.
