Hello -
I am a new subscriber to your list. I have traced parts of my family to
Indianapolis and have some vital statistics but, also a lot of 'dead ends'.
Brothers, Ethelbert C. HIBBEN born 1822, died 1876 and James Samuel HIBBEN
born 1820, died 1877 lived in Indianapolis. Ethelbert's daughter, Julia,
married Charles Edward Belin FLAGG and had two children, Charles,Jr., and
Gertrude M. James had three children, Louise born ca. 1864 who married Ernest
M. WILES; Harold B. born 1855 who married Louise FREEMAN; and Thomas E. who
married Jane M. KETCHAM. The children of Thomas E. and Jane were Paxton P.,
Helene L., Thomas E., Jr., James and (Priscilla ?) Hazen. The children of
Harold B. and Louise were Harold James, Freeman Hart, Louise and Catharine.
In turn, Freeman Hart Hibben married Evadne HAYWARD; Louise Hibben married
Richard FAIRBANKS; and Catherine Hibben married Ward Henly HACKLEMAN.
There were two other Hibben families living in Marion or Dearborn Counties in
the 1860s and 1870s. William W. HIBBEN, a Methodist Minister, born ca 1812 in
Fayette Co., PA. He would be a cousin to Ethelbert and James. His children
born between 1836 and 1857 were: Thomas G., Omer T., Maggie, Martha, James,
Kate, Anna M., and Bernard N. Henry B. HIBBEN born ca. 1827 in PA. His
children born in the early 1850s were; Henry and John.
I have found considerable biographical data about the Hibben & Holwegg
wholesale dry goods company founded by James Samuel Hibben and some
information about the political and legal profession of Ethelbert C. Hibben.
Now I am searching for descendant information and, hopefully, living
descendants of the four Hibben families. Thank you for sharing
