Douglas,
I have located your family on the 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1910 census but when I tried to
send you a copy of each census, your e-mail address bombed.
Please e-mail me directly and I will try and send these over to you again.
GARBER ELIAS E 67 M W OH OH GEAUGA PARKMAN TWP 1910
GARBER ELIAS 60 M W OH OH GEAUGA PARKMAN TWP 1900
Elias GARBER Self M Male W 51 OH Farmer OH OH Perry, Stark, Ohio

GARVER ELIAS 35 M W OH OH STARK PERRY TWP 1870
Can not find Elias, about 25 years old, living in Ohio in 1860. He might be living with
his parents. I look under all the Garbers that lived in Stark County, Ohio and there is
no Elias living with any of them. Below is the only Elias that I was able to find in that
county.
GARBER JOHN 43 M W PA OH STARK CANTON TWP 1860
I found an 8 year old Eli living with this John but he is obviously too young for your
Elias. Maybe this John is Elias brother. The interesting part is that he is born in PA.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Subject: [MARION COUNTY, IN] Marion Thomas GARBER b 1871 and his father Elias
GARBER(GERBER)
My grandfather Marion Thomas GARBER b. 7 Dec 1871 Massillon, Stark Co., OH, d. 28 Mar
1944 Parkman, Geauga Co., OH, never used his first name Marion, as far as I can tell. He
was s/o Elias GARBER b. 1829-1840, d. 11 Feb 1923, Parkman, Geauga Co., OH, and Lavina
FISHER b 1 Mar 1846 in Indiana, d. 23 Mar 1920, Parkman, Geauga Co., OH. Elias and Lavina
were married 1 Jan 1900, most likely in OH or IN. I can never find anything on Lavina
FISHER's family -- her father may have been Samuel FISHER, her mother Mary BIDDLER
(BEIDLER) both thought to be born in Indiana.
I never could find much evidence that Elias GARBER was born in Tuscarawas Co., OH, but
it was easy to assume that he was the Elias GERBER b 1840 in Gingerich and Kreider's
"Amish and Amish-Mennonite Genealogies." Even if this is correct, I cannot
figure out how he met and married Lavina FISHER in Indiana.
My father attended college during the depression. He did go to college in Ohio, but he
told me that his second choice was to go Oregon, stay with relatives, and attend college
there. Don't have any idea who these folks were. Just thought that Elias may have
moved to IN or OR before returning east to OH.
Elias and Lavina GARBER are in the 1880 OH census. Any help with the previous would be
appreciated.
