Finally found, just this morning, a record that my gr gr grfr BARNES CLARY
m. Rebecah McVEY, 2 Jul 1820, in Randolph, N.C. I am seeking her
burial/death place, between 1846 and 1856, presumably Marion Co., IN, and
any information about her ancestors. On the Marion Co. cemetery site I
discovered a McVey cemetery. Can anyone help me? The background follows:
BARNES was disowned from the Springfield MM (NC), for marrying out of unity,
6 Sep 1820.
4 Oct 1833, a deed was recorded in Fayette Co., IN, from Barnes and Rebecca,
his wife.
They are listed in the 1830 census in Fayette Co., IN
Barnes received a land patent 4 Nov 1834 in what I THOUGHT was Marion Co.,
IN, but the courthouse personnel in Marion Co. did not recognize the legal
description.
Barnes and family listed in the 1840 Census in MARION CO., IN.
Discovered this week that Barnes/Rebecca’s son, SILAS HIATT CLARY, was b. 2
May 1843 at Indianapolis, IN, according to 1915 newspaper article in KS.
Their last son Cyrus, was b. 1846 in IN, according to census records.
Can’t find Barnes anywhere in 1850, but I understand there was bad weather
in 1850 in IN and that a lot of people were not counted.
In 1856, Barnes Clary, a WIDOWER, is listed in Madison Co., IA, having lived
there one year.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide -- Jeannine Long
