I have just found an old entry on another Marion County board regarding a
George W. Surber from Marion County who married Anna J. Wells ca 1896.
(George was b. 1875.) This entry was not new and I'm hoping to reach this
person or perhaps others who are interested in George and his family. She
said that George was buried in Floral Park Cemetery in Marion County.
This particular George W. Surber (there were several including one almost
his same age living in Shelby County) was one of the younger children of
Joseph R. Surber and Harriett Seward. Children were James H., Margaret J.,
Harriett E., Franklin, George W., and Oliver. Like so many Indiana pioneer
families, they allegedly had some Indian ancestry.
These children married people with names YARBROUGH, HENRY, NUGENT, WELLS,
CURRY, AND WILKINS. Most of my information comes from letters that were in
my aunt's genealogy research from the 1950's.
Do any of these names sound familiar? All information eagerly shared.
