Dick,
I'm very glad to hear that you received a response from Butler. I read your
message/s and was going to reply, but got too busy the last day or so.
I attended Butler (Masters) in '53-'55. Then went there in 1966 and taught
for 30 years there. I have always felt it was a great school. A while back
some one asked about the Eliza Blaker School and Butler.
I have an Encyclopedia of Indianapolis that has an article about her: "a
pioneer in early childhood education in Indianapolis, she established a
Kindergarten Norma Trainign Schoo., which in 1905 became the Teachers College
of Indianapolis. All trustees, teachers and students were women. The
college affiliated iwth Butler College (now Butler University) in 1926 and
moved to the latter's campus in 1933."
There is a room in her honor in the Irwin Library on the Butler campus.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
